The man who was assumed to be Sheikh Aminu Daurawa dancing in a viral video is Abubakar Terab, KANO FOCUS can authoritatively confirm.
Mr Terab, a prominent politician in Maiduguri, Borno state was shown dancing with his wife Fadila in a private wedding ceremony.
Comments on social media confused Mr Terab with the immediate past Commander General of the Kano state Hisbah Command.
Sheikh Daurawa has denied any knowledge of the incident.
However, in an exclusive interview with KANO FOCUS, a Maiduguri resident Muhammad Yusuf said the video clip was captured at his wedding ceremony.
“I am the man with the golden clothes while Abubakar my best friend was beside me.
“The wedding took place on September 14, 2019 at White House Arena in Maiduguri.
“It was a private event that was why there was no video coverage. “However as we are in this social media era, many people recorded the event with their mobile phones.” He said.

Mr Yusuf said he doesn’t know who published the video as neither him nor the Daurawa lookalike had posted clips on their social media handles.
“I think people circulated the clip to tarnish the image of Sheikh Daurawa due to the politics of Kano.
“What they don’t know is that my friend Abubakar Terab is also a responsible and well-respected person who wouldn’t have danced in public if not because of my closeness to him and the fact that the event was not meant to be broadcast.” He added.
