Kano Govt partners security agencies on training

The Kano State Government has said it will continue partnering with the Police and other Law Enforcement Agencies in developing the capacity of their personnel to ensure security to secure Kano State.

KANO FOCUS reports that the Director General of Special Services Directorate government house AVM Ibrahim Umar Rtd said this at the second edition of a one-day maiden training workshop organized by the Kano state police command and other agencies on Wednesday.

Mr Umar said the gathering signifies a significant milestone in the commitment of the Kano State Government under the leadership of the Executive Governor of Kano State, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf towards the effective administration of justice in the state.

He said the Administration of Criminal Justice Law (ACJL) is a vital piece of legislation that seeks to streamline and modernize the criminal justice system.

He added that It puts a strong emphasis on the protection of the rights of both the accused and the victims, ensuring that justice is served in a timely and fair manner.

“As the Director General, Special Services, Government House Kano, I understand the importance of upholding the rule of law and ensuring an efficient and fair criminal justice system,” he said.

“It is with great honor and pleasure that I stand before you today as the Director General of Special Services at the Government House in Kano.

“I extend my warmest welcome to every one of you at the second edition of a one-day maiden training workshop organized by Kano State Police Command in collaboration with the Magistrates Association of Nigeria (MAN), Kano Branch on the Administration of Criminal Justice Law (ACJL).

“The second edition of this maiden Training workshop marks a significant step forward in enhancing the capabilities and expertise of law enforcement agencies to carry out their duties effectively and by the laws governing criminal justice in Kano State,” he added.

AVM said the workshop comes at a crucial time when the society faces evolving challenges that demand a proactive and systematic approach to the administration of justice.

He added that the Administration of Criminal Justice Law (ACJL) is a crucial aspect that provides a legal framework to address the challenges to the effective administration of justice in Kano State, and it is imperative for all stakeholders involved in the criminal justice process, including law enforcement agencies, prosecutors, defense attorneys and judges to be well-versed in the provisions and implementation of the ACJL.

In a remark, the Kano state commissioner of police Muhammad Hussaini Gumel Going urged the participants to keenly participate in the workshop and make it engaging and interactive with the trainers so that they can get the most out of this unique learning opportunity.

He said the knowledge they will gain will not only enhance their professional development but would also contribute to the overall improvement of their criminal justice system.

He also urged them to seize the opportunity to expand their knowledge, strengthen their professional capabilities, foster collaboration, exchange better ideas, and collectively work towards achieving a fair and effective administration of justice.

Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited has announced that its ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) remains unchanged, reaffirming its commitment to stability in Nigeria’s domestic energy market.

 

In a statement issued by Esan Sunday, Head of Media Relations, Branding and Communication, the company said sustaining the current price reflects its efforts to cushion the broader economy against external shocks. It noted that by absorbing prevailing cost pressures, the refinery is helping to moderate inflationary risks, promote energy affordability, and ensure uninterrupted fuel supply amid ongoing global uncertainties.

 

The company reiterated its dedication to the steady supply of high-quality petroleum products to the Nigerian market, while aligning with national objectives of price stability and energy security.

 

It also urged the public to rely solely on official communications from the refinery for accurate and up-to-date information regarding its operations and pricing.

Tinubu congratulates Garo on appointment as Kano deputy governor

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo on his emergence as the Deputy Governor of Kano State following his swearing-in on Tuesday.

 

KANO FOCUS reports that Garo was sworn in by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf after being nominated to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of former deputy governor, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam.

 

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described Garo’s appointment as a positive step toward strengthening unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State.

 

The President noted that the 48-year-old politician has held several public offices, including Chairman of Kabo Local Government Area and Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs during the administration of former governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. He also served as the APC governorship running mate in the 2023 general elections.

 

Tinubu commended Governor Yusuf for the appointment, urging political stakeholders in the state to rally behind the administration to ensure stability and progress.

 

He also called on the new deputy governor to work closely with the governor in delivering effective leadership and accelerating development in Kano State.

 

The President wished Garo success in his new role.
