Tinubu, Yusuf, ACF mourn Sheikh Nasir Muhammad Nasir

President Bola Tinubu has expressed sadness over the death of a foremost Kano-based imam, Sheikh Nasir Muhammad Nasir, aged 87.

KANO FOCUS reports that the President described the death of the religious leader as a loss for the country in view of his contributions to the spread of knowledge and rectitude.

The condolence was contained in a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja by Abiodun Oladunjoye, Director of Information, State House.

“Sheikh Nasir will be long remembered for devoting almost his entire life to the search and sharing of knowledge. His voice would never be forgotten for his years of preaching love and righteousness.

“He will be greatly missed in Kano and beyond for his fearless advocacy for the downtrodden, and ceaseless prayers for the country’s leaders.

“I condole with his family, his followers, the emirs of Kano and Bichi as well as the Kano State Government over this huge loss. I pray for the repose of the imam’s soul,” the President said.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf mourns Limamin Waje 

Also Kano state Governor, Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf has condoled with the immediate family and people of Kano state over the death of sheikh Nasir Muhammad Nasir  the chief Imam of Waje Jumuat mosque.

The Governor described the deceased as a dinstiguished islamic scholar of repute who contributed immensely towards the development of Islam not only in Kano or Nigeria but to the entire Muslim ummah globally.

A statement issued on Wednesday by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa Yusuf said ” it is with total submission to the will of Allah that with the deepest shock we received the news of the death of the eminent scholar, Sheikh Nasir Muhammad Nasir, an imam, a community leader and a peace builder.

According to the Governor Sheikh Nasir had been a man of his words who lived a fullfiled life worthy of emulation by all and his death created a wide vacuum difficult to fill.

“On behalf of the government and people of Kano state, I extend our heartfelt condolences and we will continue to pray for Almighty Allah SWT to grant his soul eternal rest, jañnatul Firdausi be his final abode and give us fortitude to bear the loss.” Symphasized the Governor.

ACF Kano mourns Sheikh Nasir

The Kano State chapter of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) is deeply shocked following the demise of the Imam of  Kano’s second Juma’at Masjid ( WAJE) Sheikh Muhammad Nasir, Waziri Murabus.

In a condolence message, the Chairman, Dr Goni Farouk Umar lauded the positive contributions of the late Muslim cleric to Islamic propagation, and the administration of justice in the state during his sojourn in the state judiciary.

The ACF leader also recalled  similar positive engagements when he and the late Sheikh among others greatly sustained the Hausa Week at the then ABC/ ABU Kano (now BUK), an annual event that attracted scholars, researchers and artistes from far and near. It also impacted the position of the Language worldwide.

Dr Farouk Umar prayed Allah  to grant Sheikh Nasir Muhammad eternal rest and grant his family the fortitude to bear the loss.

A statement issued by Publicity Secretary Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) Kano State Chapter Bello Sani Galadanci said the remains of Sheikh Nasir who passed on Wednesday were escorted  to the Dandolo graveyard on Thursday.

Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited has announced that its ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) remains unchanged, reaffirming its commitment to stability in Nigeria’s domestic energy market.

 

In a statement issued by Esan Sunday, Head of Media Relations, Branding and Communication, the company said sustaining the current price reflects its efforts to cushion the broader economy against external shocks. It noted that by absorbing prevailing cost pressures, the refinery is helping to moderate inflationary risks, promote energy affordability, and ensure uninterrupted fuel supply amid ongoing global uncertainties.

 

The company reiterated its dedication to the steady supply of high-quality petroleum products to the Nigerian market, while aligning with national objectives of price stability and energy security.

 

It also urged the public to rely solely on official communications from the refinery for accurate and up-to-date information regarding its operations and pricing.

Tinubu congratulates Garo on appointment as Kano deputy governor

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo on his emergence as the Deputy Governor of Kano State following his swearing-in on Tuesday.

 

KANO FOCUS reports that Garo was sworn in by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf after being nominated to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of former deputy governor, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam.

 

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described Garo’s appointment as a positive step toward strengthening unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State.

 

The President noted that the 48-year-old politician has held several public offices, including Chairman of Kabo Local Government Area and Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs during the administration of former governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. He also served as the APC governorship running mate in the 2023 general elections.

 

Tinubu commended Governor Yusuf for the appointment, urging political stakeholders in the state to rally behind the administration to ensure stability and progress.

 

He also called on the new deputy governor to work closely with the governor in delivering effective leadership and accelerating development in Kano State.

 

The President wished Garo success in his new role.

A dramatic political moment unfolded in Kano on Tuesday as former governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje publicly acknowledged Muhammad Sanusi II as the Emir of Kano and Chairman of the Kano State Council of Emirs.

 

KANO FOCUS reports that the unexpected gesture occurred during the swearing-in ceremony of the newly appointed Deputy Governor, Murtala Sule Garo, at Government House, Kano—an event attended by top political leaders and traditional rulers.
