Gov Yusuf appoints Hauwa Isa Acting MD ARTV

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has approved the appointment of Hajiya Hauwa Isa Ibrahim as Acting Managing Director of Abubakar Rimi Television ARTV Kano.
KANO FOCUS reports that the appointment letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government Dr Bappa Bichi said the appointment followed the suspension of the former managing director Mustapha Adamu Indabawa.
The appointment letter reads in part “Following the suspension of Managing Director Abubakar Rimi Television (ARTV), I am instructed to convey the approval of His ExcellencyExcellency, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, the Executive Governor of Kano State of your appointment as Acting Managing Director, Abubakar Rimi Television ARTV Kano with immediate effect.
“Accordingly, you are by this letter requested to take over the affairs of the agency, please.”
KANO FOCUS reports that the state government has filed seven-count charges of criminal conspiracy, misappropriation and diversion of fund among others running into millions of naira against former Managing Director Mustapha Adamu Indabawa and Staff Officer, Ibrahim M. Bello.
The application to prefer charge against the duo under section 211 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (As Amended) and Section 121 (1), 123 (1) (a) 126( b) and 377 of the Kano State Administration of Criminal Justice Law (2019) sighted by SolaceBase on Tuesday, dated May 14th, 2024, was attached with the charge sheet, the list of witnesses and their statements, a summary of statements of witnesses, the summary of evidence and copies of the statements of the defendants and other exhibits.
The charge was filed by Kano State Public Complaint and Anti-Corruption Commission under the fiat accorded it by the Attorney General of the state.
KANO FOCUS had reported that the state anti-corruption commission investigated the matter sequel to a petition written to the state governor against the embattle ARTV Managing Director, Mustapha Adamu Indabawa.
According to credible sources, the anti-craft commission after a thorough investigation discovered a lot of atrocities at the television station that warranted dragging the duo to court after submission of the report to the governor.
First head count charge
The first head of count reads, ‘’that you, Mustapha Adamu Indabawa, together with you Ibrahim M Bello, between the period of January, 2024 or there about, at Kano in the Kano Judicial Division, conspire amongst yourselves while serving in your official capacities as the Managing Director and staff officer of Abubakar Rimi Television Corporation (ARTV) wholly owned by the Kano State Government, agreed to do or caused to be done an illegal act, to wit, dishonestly misappropriated and/or converted to your own use the sum of N9,500,000.00 (Nine Million Five Hundred Thousand Naira) being money disbursed and credited to the account of Abubakar Rimi Television Corporation from the Kano State consolidated Revenue Account No. 4968083012 domiciled at FCMB, as take-off grant, the monies which you dishonestly caused to be put to the 2nd defendant’s personal Bank account No: 331 172332 Domicile at Eco Bank, before sharing it for your own use causing wrongful loss to people and government of Kano State and wrongful gain to you and your associates and thereby committed the offence of Criminal Conspiracy contrary to Section 96 and punishable under Section 97 of The Penal Code (as amended), CAP. 105, Vol. 2. The Laws of the Kano State of Nigeria, 1991.
Second head count charge
That you, Mustapha Adamu Indabawa male, adult between the periods of 16th April. 2024 or thereabout, in Kano in the Kano Judicial Division, while serving in your capacity as a public servant, to wit, the Managing Director of Abubakar Rimi Television Corporation and being charged with the receipt, custody and management of the sum of N40,000,000.00 (forty million Naira), being a disbursement received by the State Government-owned Television station for the Commercials Airtime payment by Accelerating Nutrition Result in Nigeria (ANRIN) through the ARTV account No. 2142010472 domicile at Eco Bank, the monies which you directed the payment of N12,000,000 (Twelve Million Naira) to yourself and other management staff of the corporation under the guise of “Canvasser” thereby causing wrongful gain to yourselves and wrongful loss to the Government and People of Kano State and thereby committed an offence contrary and punishable under section 26 of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission Law 2008 (as amended).
Third head count charge
That you, Mustapha Adamu Indabawa male, adult between the periods of 19 March, 2024 or thereabout, in Kano in the Kano Judicial Division, while serving in your capacity as a public servant, to wit, the managing Director of Abubakar Rimi Television Corporation and being charged with the receipt, custody and management of the sum of N3,400,000 (Three Million Four Hundred Thousand Naira), being a disbursement received by the State Government owned Television station for the Commercials Airtime payment by UNICEF through the ARTV/UNICEF dedicated account No. 0005181209 domicile at Unity Bank Ple, the monies which you directed the cashier and the program coordinator to withdraw in cash on the 19th day of March 2024 and was given to you and converted same into your personal use thereby causing wrongful gain to yourself and wrongful loss to the Government and People of Kano State and thereby committed an offence contrary and punishable under section 26 of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti- Corruption Commission Law 2008 (as amended).
Fourth head count charge
That you, Mustapha Adamu Indabawa, together with you Ibrahim M Bello, between the period of February 2023 or thereabout, at Kano in the Kano Judicial Division, conspire amongst yourselves while serving in your official capacities as making director and staff officer of Abubakar Rimi television corporation, agreed to do or cause to be done an illegal act, to wit, dishonestly misappropriated and/or converted to your own use the sum of N9,500,000.00 (Nine Million Five Hundred Thousand Naira) being money disbursed and credited to the account of Abubakar Rimi Television corporation from the Kano State consolidated Revenue Account No. 4968083012 domiciled at FCMB, as a take-off grant, the monies which you dishonestly caused to be put into the 2nd defendant’s personal Bank account No.3321172332 Domicile at Eco Bank before converting it for your own use causing wrongful loss to the people and the Government of Kano State and wrongful gain to you and your associates and thereby committed the of Criminal breach of Trust contrary to section 311 and punishable under section 315 of The Penal Code (as amended), CAP. 105, Vol. 2. The Laws of the Kano State of Nigeria, 1991.
Fifth head count charge
That you, Mustapha Adamu Indabawa, together with you Ibrahim M Bello, between the period of February 2023 or thereabout, at Kano in the Kano Judicial Division, conspire amongst yourselves while serving in your official capacities as managing director and staff officer of Abubakar Rimi television corporation, agreed to do or cause to be done an illegal act, to wit, dishonestly misappropriated and/or converted to your own use the sum of N9,500,000.00 (Nine Milion Five Hundred Thousand Naira) being money disbursed and credited to the account of Abubakar Rimi Television corporation from the Kano State consolidated Revenue Account No. 4968083012 domiciled at FCMB, as take-off grant, the monies which you dishonestly caused to be put into the 2nd defendant personal Bank account No.3321172332 Domicile at Eco Bank and convert it for your own use causing wrongful loss to the people and Government of Kano State and wrongful gain to you and your associates and thereby committed an offence contrary and punishable under section 26 of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission Law 2008 (as amended).

SFH appoints Dayyabu Yusuf to lead strategic health partnerships, RevoHealth HMO

The Society for Family Health has appointed Dayyabu Mahmud Yusuf as Group Director, Impact Partnership and Engagement, as well as Managing Director of RevoHealth HMO Ltd., in a move aimed at strengthening healthcare access and sustainable health systems across Nigeria and Africa.
KANO FOCUS reports that the appointment was announced on the organisation’s official Facebook page on Saturday.
According to SFH, the new leadership appointment signals the beginning of a fresh phase focused on improving impact, expanding access to healthcare services, and advancing sustainable health transformation initiatives across the continent.
The organisation stated that the appointment reflects its commitment to building integrated health systems and promoting innovative platforms in healthcare financing, workforce development, advisory services, and sustainable health interventions.
SFH expressed confidence that Yusuf’s leadership would further strengthen the organisation’s impact and deliver lasting value to communities across Nigeria and beyond.
Yusuf is a seasoned public health professional with more than 18 years of experience in the design and implementation of public health, social marketing, and health systems strengthening programmes in Nigeria.
He is widely recognised as a health systems expert, health economist, programme management specialist, and community engagement practitioner, with extensive experience in reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health (RMNCH), HIV/AIDS, malaria, child survival, and nutrition interventions.
He has also built strong technical expertise across the family planning and maternal, newborn and child health continuum, while leading large and complex teams on multiple development programmes.
Yusuf possesses strong advocacy and stakeholder engagement skills, having worked closely with senior government officials, lawmakers, and influential traditional and religious leaders to drive institutional and behavioural changes that support effective programme implementation.
A seasoned trainer, Yusuf has trained various cadres of health professionals and is known for his practical expertise in participatory community engagement approaches.
He holds a degree in Microbiology and a Master’s degree in Health Economics from Bayero University Kano, as well as an MSc in Microbiology from University of Abuja.

Kwankwaso commends IGP over probe into Dadiyata’s disappearance

A former Governor of Kano State Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has commended the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, for ordering a fresh investigation into the disappearance of activist and lecturer Abubakar Idris Dadiyata.
KANO FOCUS reports that Kwankwaso made the remarks in a statement posted on his Facebook page on Saturday following recent testimony by a former aide to an ex-state governor, who allegedly claimed that police officers were responsible for Dadiyata’s disappearance in Kaduna.
Dadiyata, a lecturer and social media commentator, was abducted in 2019, and his whereabouts have remained unknown since then.
According to Kwankwaso, he and his associates have consistently advocated for a thorough investigation into the incident and for those responsible to be brought to justice.
He described the Inspector-General’s directive for a comprehensive investigation as a “decisive and long-overdue action,” expressing hope that the process would uncover the truth behind the disappearance.
The former governor also urged police authorities to place individuals named in the allegations under close surveillance to prevent interference with the investigation.
Kwankwaso further called on the government to ensure that Dadiyata, if found alive, and his family receive adequate compensation for the trauma and hardship they have endured over the years.
He commended members of the public for sustaining advocacy efforts on the case and also praised Abba Hikima Fagge for what he described as his important role in the latest developments surrounding the investigation.
Kwankwaso expressed optimism that the renewed probe would ultimately deliver truth and justice in the case.

Dangote Refinery maintains ex-depot price of PMS

Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited has announced that its ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) remains unchanged, reaffirming its commitment to stability in Nigeria’s domestic energy market.
In a statement issued by Esan Sunday, Head of Media Relations, Branding and Communication, the company said sustaining the current price reflects its efforts to cushion the broader economy against external shocks. It noted that by absorbing prevailing cost pressures, the refinery is helping to moderate inflationary risks, promote energy affordability, and ensure uninterrupted fuel supply amid ongoing global uncertainties.
The company reiterated its dedication to the steady supply of high-quality petroleum products to the Nigerian market, while aligning with national objectives of price stability and energy security.
It also urged the public to rely solely on official communications from the refinery for accurate and up-to-date information regarding its operations and pricing.
