KANO FOCUS reports that the expansion, which was launched on Thursday at the company’s facility in Sharada, Kano, was supported and funded by PropCom+, a development program aimed at improving agricultural productivity and nutrition.

According to the Managing Director of Halilco Foods, Mr. Abbas Fadlalla, the new production line will focus on producing nutritious and healthy food products, including instant Koko, millet pulp, and other fortified foods.

The partnership, which commenced last July, has supported over 500 women farmers with fortified millet seeds, training, and market access. Mr. Fadlalla noted that the partnership has not only improved the livelihoods of the women farmers but also increased their profit margins.

In his remarks, the Political Director and Team Leader of PropCom+, Dr. Adiya Ode, described Halilco Foods as a “development champion” in agriculture, bio-fortification, and women’s empowerment.

The Commissioner of Agriculture in Kano State, Danjuma Mahmud, who was represented by the Director of Veterinary Service, Dr. Yahuza Shehu Aliyu, commended PropCom+ for supporting the expansion and pledged the state government’s support for companies investing in the state.
