The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) says it arrested 70 suspected drug traffickers and intercepted 1,537.472 kilograms of illicit drugs within the month of November in Kano State.
Kano Focus reports that the NDLEA Commander in Kano State, Ibrahim Abdul, said this in an interview with journalists in Kano on Tuesday.

“We were able to intercept 1,323.472 kilograms of Cannabis Sativa, Psychotropic 214.323 kilograms, Cocaine 0.001kg,” Abdul said.
He revealed that in the period under review, 140 drug users were referred for brief intervention (counseling).
He added that two drug users were also admitted and four were discharged after undergoing counseling.
Abdul also revealed that two trucks and a Honda vehicle were intercepted with 722 kilograms and 201 kilograms of Cannabis sativa respectively.
He also appealed to the general public, especially traditional, religious and community leaders to continue giving necessary supports to the command in the fight the menace.
However, on Monday Kano Focus reports how the Judge at Federal High Court, Lewis Allogoa accused NDLEA of shielding drug dealers.
The Judge threatened not to entertain any NDLEA case henceforth since they deliberately omit the main culprits in trafficking drugs, only to bring poor to face trial.
Mr Allagoa made the accusation while attending a case of a truck conductor Shehu Haruna accused with drug trafficking brought to the court by NDLEA.
The judge said he will not sentence the conductor, unless commander of the NDLEA in Kano Ibrahim Abdul appears before the court and explain why the driver and the truck that carried the illicit substance were omitted from the charges.
