Kano State House of Assembly has recalled Kano state pension and gratuity law, Kano house of assembly service commission law, and Kano state road traffic law, for subsequent review and approval.

KANO FOCUS reports that this was sequel to a motion, of urgent public importance, sponsored by the majority leader Alhaji Labaran Abdul Madari, during Monday’s plenary session presided over by the speaker Alhaji Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari.

Madari argued that, the review of Kano pension and gratuity law, would go a long way in curtailing problems encountered by retirees and families of deceased, while claiming their entitlements.

The majority leader highlighted that, the amended law would also pave way for extension of retirement age, for civil servants from 60 to 65 years, while year of service would be upgraded from 35 to 40 years.

Madari maintained that, the issue of governors borrowing funds from the pension trust fund, would be addressed to ensure timely release to beneficiaries.

Other laws, recalled by the Kano House of Assembly include, Kano state Assembly Service Commission law, and Kano State Road Traffic law.

Similarly, the House had received two letters from the executive arm, seeking for the amendment of Kano state and local governments revenue administration, codification and consolidation amendment no. 2, and draft bill of kano state emirate council law 2019.

Reading the letter on the floor of the house, the Speaker pointed out that, the correspondence said, the amendment of the revenue law would ensure improved revenue generation, transparency and accountability.

The letter further highlighted that, the executive council proposed the review of the Kano state council of emirs, according to section 4 sub- section 2 of Kano state emirate council law 2019.

The House committed the bills to the relevant committees for further legislative action.

The House adjourned it’s sitting to Tuesday 20th December 2022, in a motion filed by the majority leader Madari.
