Press Secretary is the most governor’s confidant – Sule Yau Sule

The former director press to former governor Malam Ibrahim Shekarau Dr Sule Yau Sule has described Chief Press Secretary as the most governor’s confidant among all political appointees.

KANO FOCUS reports that Dr Sule revealed this on Sunday at a reception organised by Dawakin Tofa community in honour of Chief Press Secretary to the governor Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

Dr Sule also said the governor confides to the CPS his close secret being the most trusted and honest appointee.

He said the job is equally dangerous as it exposes the governor’s spokesperson to unwarranted attack and criticism.

Sule, a senior lecturer with department of Mass Communication Bayero University Kano (BUK) called on people of Dawakin Tofa to continue to pray to God to guide Sanusi Bature to perform creditably.

According to him , ” the position of Press Secretary is very sensitive and is given to someone who is trusted and a confidant because he is privy to confidential and classical information about his boss and he need to be careful in the conduct of his undertakings”

The revered Public relations czar assured his readiness to render helping hands to the newly appointed Chief Press Secretary to deliver on the herculean task resting on his shoulders as the mouthpiece of the state Governor.

Another communication scholar and the head of department of Mass Communication of BUK, Professor Mainasara Yakubu Kurfi, said he wasn’t surprised with the appointment of Dawakin Tofa as the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor as a he is equal to the task.

In his remarks Prof. Auwalu Arzai of the department of Biological sciences, BUK called on the appointee to work hard to be, beneficial to the people of his immediate community, Kano state and Nigeria in general.

Professor Arzai went extra mile to quote a hadith of the prophet Muhammad peace be upon him which says “the best among mankind  is the one that people benefits from him” adding that Dawakin Tofa has produced prominent people of high calibre that excelled in so many fields of human endeavour and are positively contributing in the development of the nation.

The representative of the state office of New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Dr Hamisu Sadi Ali, thanked Governor of Kano Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf for appointing Sanusi Bature as his Press Secretary, a position that is well deserved looking at the commitment, hardwork and passion the celebrant has been exhibiting in the discharge of his duties and expressed optimism that the appointee will perform above board.

A childhood friend of the celebrant, Ibrahim Yaro Dawakin Tofa extolled the virtues of the chief Press Secretary whom he described as trustworthy, patient, easy- going, committed and a knowledge seeker in his life whose penchant for seeking knowledge took him to so many schools within and outside the shores of the country.

Yaro  said the occasion was organised to rejoice with Sanusi Bature and appreciate his contribution towards the development of Dawakin Tofa and Kano state expressing his optimism that Sunusi’s appointment will benefit all.

Responding, the appointee who was visibly elated appreciated people of the old Dawakin Tofa for the gesture and pledged to work hard to justify the confidence repose in him by Kano state government and people of his community.

He also thanked Kano Governor for the appointment ” I want to use the opportunity to send my sincere appreciation to my boss His Excellency Abba Kabir Yusuf for finding me worthy of appointment into the position of Chief Press Secretary, a position that I have served for over five years when he was a candidate of our party and movement Kwankwasiyya”

To the people of his community, Sunusi Bature urged them, ” what i require from you for the moment  your is sincere prayers, encouragement and whatever you can do to make sure that we succeed in this journey to destiny and insha’Allah you Will find me a good ambassador worthy of emulation”.

Other personalities who spoke at occasion include; Dr Kabiru Ado Zakirai, Alh Sani Abdulkadir Dembo, Chairman of Kano state Board of Internal Revenue and an elder statesman, Alhaji Mahmud Baffa Yola.

Cameroon telecom regulator visits NCC for benchmarking exercise

The Director General of the Telecommunications Regulatory Board (ART) of the Republic of Cameroon, Philemon Zoo Zame, on Wednesday visited the headquarters of the [Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) in Abuja for a benchmarking exercise aimed at strengthening regulatory collaboration and knowledge sharing between both countries.

 

KANO FOCUS reports that during the visit, the Cameroonian telecom regulator met with the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NCC, Aminu Maida.

 

A statement issued by Ayiabari A. Kigbara, Manager, Media Relations, Public Affairs Department of the NCC, said the engagement focused on exchanging ideas and best practices in telecommunications regulation, with emphasis on enhancing efficiency and development within the sector.

Dangote Refinery maintains ex-depot price of PMS

Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited has announced that its ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) remains unchanged, reaffirming its commitment to stability in Nigeria’s domestic energy market.

 

In a statement issued by Esan Sunday, Head of Media Relations, Branding and Communication, the company said sustaining the current price reflects its efforts to cushion the broader economy against external shocks. Tinubu congratulates Garo on appointment as Kano deputy governor

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo on his emergence as the Deputy Governor of Kano State following his swearing-in on Tuesday.

 

KANO FOCUS reports that Garo was sworn in by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf after being nominated to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of former deputy governor, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam.

 

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described Garo’s appointment as a positive step toward strengthening unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State.

 

The President noted that the 48-year-old politician has held several public offices, including Chairman of Kabo Local Government Area and Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs during the administration of former governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. He also served as the APC governorship running mate in the 2023 general elections.

 

Tinubu commended Governor Yusuf for the appointment, urging political stakeholders in the state to rally behind the administration to ensure stability and progress.

 

He also called on the new deputy governor to work closely with the governor in delivering effective leadership and accelerating development in Kano State.

 

The President wished Garo success in his new role.
