Muhammadu Buhari, Nigerian president and candidate of the ruling APC in the 2019 election has endorsed the second-term of Kano state governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje despite emergence of viral videos showing the governor collecting bribes.

Mr Buhari, who spoke amidst a mammoth crowd on Thursday at Kofar Mata Stadium raised up Ganduje’s hand and ask Kano people to continue voting for him.

“Here is your Ganduje! Here is your Ganduje! Keep on!” shouted Mr Buhari.

KANO TODAY reports that the president was in Kano to campaign for his own second-term election.

Prior to Mr Buhari’s arrival, speculations were rife that he will refrain from endorsing Mr Ganduje’s candidacy in order to protect his image as an anti-corruption crusader.

However, Mr Buhari landed in Kano donning a flowing gown with the slogan ‘Buhari and Ganduje 4+4=8’.

In his speech, Mr Buhari thanked the people of Kano for the love they shower upon him.

He also gave himself pass mark in conducting his first tenure in office.

“I had promised to ensure peace and prosperity.

“As for peace, ask your trading partners from the Northeast. They will tell you that most of them have returned to their homes.

“In terms of prosperity we are no longer importing rice as we are able to feed ourselves,” the APC presidential candidate said.

Kano-Ibadan railroad: Ganduje’s aide challenges Buhari

“I have never seen a government with zero empathy like that of President Muhammadu Buhari.

“So many times when his people are going through a difficult time and expect some sort of tap on the shoulder to reassure them that he is in charge, but he failed to do so.

“The ‘I don’t care attitude’ is on another level. Mr Yakasi tweeted.

Meanwhile, Mr Yakasai had deleted the post but left another one criticizing the president for failure to address the nation in times of crises.

“To speak to your own people over issues that are bedeviling them has become something like a favor you are doing to them.

“Over and over again, you cannot spare five minutes to address the nation to calm them down, the same people you went to the 36 states to beg for their votes, it is heartbreaking.” He added

However, Mr Ganduje was not happy with the statement and ordered his immediate suspension

The governor warned political appointees and public servants to guard against making statements capable of drawing unnecessary controversy and heating up the polity.
