AKTH gets acting CMD

Professor Abdurrahman Abba Sheshe, has assumed the leadership of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) as the acting Chief Medical Director (CMD).
Kano Focus reports that Professor Sheshe succeeded his colleague, Professor Aminu Zakari, whose two terms of appointment as CMD expired on 10 October, 2019.

Before his elevation as the new head of AKTH, Professor Sheshe, an expert in general surgery, was chairman of the hospital’s Medical Advisory Committee.
Professor Zakari handed over to Professor Sheshe in a brief ceremony held at the hospital’s board room on Wednesday in the presence of top management staff including Hajiya Zainab A. Gwadabe, director of administration of AKTH.

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has forwarded six names to the State House of Assembly as Commissioner-nominees.
KANO FOCUS reports that the Speaker of the House, Alhaji Ismail Falgore disclosed this on Monday while reading the governor’s letter.
The nominees include the immediate past Chief of Staff (CoS) Alhaji Shehu Wada Sagagi, Dr Dahiru Hashim, Comr. Ibrahim Wayya, Dr Isma’il Dan Maraya, Dr Gaddafi Sani Shehu and Alhaji Abdulkadir AbdulSalam.

Kwankwaso visits Obasanjo in Ogun

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Saturday hosted former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, and former Cross River State Governor, Donald Duke, in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
KANO FOCUS reports that Kwankwaso, who was the New Nigeria People’s Party presidential candidate in the 2023 election, disclosed this in a post on his X account later that night.
The meeting took place at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library residence.
According to Kwankwaso, the discussions centred on “significant national issues, including the future of politics and governance in Nigeria.”
He wrote, “I was pleased to be in the company of my friend, HE Donald Duke and other associates to pay a courtesy call on President Olusegun Obasanjo at his residence in Abeokuta.
“Deliberations on significant national issues, including the future of politics and governance in Nigeria defined the conversation.
Although the specific details of their conversation remain undisclosed, the discussions may be linked to preparations for the 2027 general elections and related political strategies.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has approved the new appointments and redeployment of some Heads of Agencies and Special Advisers.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Governor’s Spokesperson, Mr. Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Sunday.
The newly appointed individuals include renowned public health expert and hematologist, Dr. Ibrahim Musa, of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH), and popular Kannywood actor, Sani Musa Danja.
Below is the list of newly appointed officials along with their assigned portfolios:
1. Dr. Ibrahim Musa – Special Adviser, Health Services, and Personal Physician to the Governor
2. Dr. Hadiza Lawan Ahmad – Special Adviser, Investment and Public-Private Partnership
3. Sani Musa Danja – Special Adviser, Youth and Sports
4. Barr. Aminu Hussain – Special Adviser, Justice/Constitutional Matters
5. Dr. Ismail Lawan Suleiman – Special Adviser, Population
6. Nasiru Isa Jarma – Special Adviser, NGOs
7. Hon. Wada Ibrahim Daho – Permanent Commissioner I, SUBEB
8. Hon. Ado Danjummai Wudil – Executive Secretary, Guidance and Counselling Board
9. Dr. Binta Abubakar – Executive Secretary, Agency for Mass Education
10. Hon. Abubakar Ahmad Bichi – Director General, Cottage and Street Hawking Agency
