Murtala Garo empowers 1, 275 youths, donates vehicles to Ulamas, Hisba, others

The Kano State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo has empowered 1, 275 youth drawn from Kabo Local Government Area of the state.
KANO FOCUS reports that Murtala Garo supported various groups including schools, Ulamas, Hisbah Officials and some female politicians with 5 cars and 61 motorcycles.
He also donated 10 generating sets and a cash sum of N10, 000 each to 10 mosques at Kabo Local Government.
Other supports distributed by the Commissioner are bags of fertilizers, pumping machines with N5,000 each to 200 farmers, N20, 000 scholarship each to 109 students, N10, 000 each to 199 women as start up capital, sewing machines and a poultry farming package, and 799 beneficiaries of various skill acquisition programmes supported with N10, 000 each.
According to Garo, “we are empowering 1, 275 young men and women whom were trained in various skills acquisition programmes.
“We are also donating 5 cars to various associations in Kabo Local Government; Hisba, Ulamas, Former Councillors and some female politicians.” He said.
In her remarks, Kano State Governor’s Wife, Professor Hafsat Abdullahi Ganduje who launched the empowerment programme expressed delight at the development.
She however reiterated commitment of the Kano State Government in supporting both the old and young, men and women especially those at the vulnerable groups.
She also charged the beneficiaries of the empowerment programme to make judicious use of the items and funds given to them for the desired goal of making them self reliant to be achieved.
“Today is an excellent day for us because we have a number of about 1, 275 beneficiaries…interms of empowerment we have greater percentage of our elected officers and appointees.
“I do hope that the beneficiaries are going to use this package wisely, engage seriously and ensure that their businesses grow”, she said.
The Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Hon. Alhassan Ado Doguwa who was also present at the event commended efforts of the Commissioner and also urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the items.

Cameroon telecom regulator visits NCC for benchmarking exercise

The Director General of the Telecommunications Regulatory Board (ART) of the Republic of Cameroon, Philemon Zoo Zame, on Wednesday visited the headquarters of the [Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) in Abuja for a benchmarking exercise aimed at strengthening regulatory collaboration and knowledge sharing between both countries.
KANO FOCUS reports that during the visit, the Cameroonian telecom regulator met with the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NCC, Aminu Maida.
A statement issued by Ayiabari A. Kigbara, Manager, Media Relations, Public Affairs Department of the NCC, said the engagement focused on exchanging ideas and best practices in telecommunications regulation, with emphasis on enhancing efficiency and development within the sector.

Dangote Refinery maintains ex-depot price of PMS

Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited has announced that its ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) remains unchanged, reaffirming its commitment to stability in Nigeria’s domestic energy market.

Tinubu congratulates Garo on appointment as Kano deputy governor

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo on his emergence as the Deputy Governor of Kano State following his swearing-in on Tuesday.
KANO FOCUS reports that Garo was sworn in by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf after being nominated to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of former deputy governor, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described Garo’s appointment as a positive step toward strengthening unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State.
The President noted that the 48-year-old politician has held several public offices, including Chairman of Kabo Local Government Area and Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs during the administration of former governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. He also served as the APC governorship running mate in the 2023 general elections.
Tinubu commended Governor Yusuf for the appointment, urging political stakeholders in the state to rally behind the administration to ensure stability and progress.
He also called on the new deputy governor to work closely with the governor in delivering effective leadership and accelerating development in Kano State.
The President wished Garo success in his new role.
