Institute of Architects Lauds Kano Governor over Demolition

The president of the Nigeria Institute of Architects( NIA) Architect Enyi Ben Ebo (FNIA) has applauded Kano state government for the demolition of illegal structures and Sub-standard buiildings and called for the domestication of the new national building regulations code to rectify the abuses on physical development of the state.
KANO FOCUS reports that Architect Enyi Ben made the statements on Wednesday when he led the executives of the Institute on a courtesy visit to Kano state Governor at the government house as part of activities heralding the 9th National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the institute in Kano
A statement issued on Wednesday by Chief Press Secretary to the Governor Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa said the president expressed appreciation over the success recorded by Kano state government within short period, adding that as professionals dealing with buildings, their major concern is the compliance with the dictates of the master plan of any building.
“We doff our hat to Kano state government for the giant strides in checking the abuses of physical development and implore the government to domesticate the building code which not only guides professionals in terms of standard but also specifies the process for designing and supervision of buildings.
“It also has compliance forms that ensures that building professionals play their roles and also the provision of the buildings” emphasized the president of the institute, Mr Ebo said.
Responding, Kano state Governor, Engr., Abba Kabir Yusuf who was represented by the chief of staff, Alhaji Shehu Wada Sagagi thanked members of the Institute for the visit describing it as timely looking at the situation on ground that required professional guidance
to carry the engagements according to the stipulated guidelines.
Sagagi highlighted some of the rescue missions embarked upon by new adminitration including provision of food stuffs to boarding secondary schools, evacuation of hundreds of tones of refuse, restoration of streets light, demolition of illegal structures and buildings among others.
He reiterated the commitment of the NNPP led government in Kano of delivering campaign pledges for the benefit of teaming populace especially youth and women, and thanked the NIA for choosing to host its NEC meeting in Kano.

Cameroon telecom regulator visits NCC for benchmarking exercise

The Director General of the Telecommunications Regulatory Board (ART) of the Republic of Cameroon, Philemon Zoo Zame, on Wednesday visited the headquarters of the [Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) in Abuja for a benchmarking exercise aimed at strengthening regulatory collaboration and knowledge sharing between both countries.
KANO FOCUS reports that during the visit, the Cameroonian telecom regulator met with the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NCC, Aminu Maida.
A statement issued by Ayiabari A. Kigbara, Manager, Media Relations, Public Affairs Department of the NCC, said the engagement focused on exchanging ideas and best practices in telecommunications regulation, with emphasis on enhancing efficiency and development within the sector.

Dangote Refinery maintains ex-depot price of PMS

Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited has announced that its ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) remains unchanged, reaffirming its commitment to stability in Nigeria’s domestic energy market.

Tinubu congratulates Garo on appointment as Kano deputy governor

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo on his emergence as the Deputy Governor of Kano State following his swearing-in on Tuesday.
KANO FOCUS reports that Garo was sworn in by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf after being nominated to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of former deputy governor, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described Garo’s appointment as a positive step toward strengthening unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State.
The President noted that the 48-year-old politician has held several public offices, including Chairman of Kabo Local Government Area and Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs during the administration of former governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. He also served as the APC governorship running mate in the 2023 general elections.
Tinubu commended Governor Yusuf for the appointment, urging political stakeholders in the state to rally behind the administration to ensure stability and progress.
He also called on the new deputy governor to work closely with the governor in delivering effective leadership and accelerating development in Kano State.
The President wished Garo success in his new role.
