Kano Commences Fumigation of Boarding Schools

The Kano State Government has embarked on a fumigation exercise and Vector Control across all the boarding schools in the state.
KANO FOCUS REPORTS that this was contained in a statement issued by the Isma’il Garba Gwammanja the Director of Enlightenment Kano Ministry of Environment.
In the statement the commissioner
for Environment and Climate Change, Nasiru Sule Garo launched the fumigation exercise at Government Technical College Ungogo.
It said this is part of government effort in reducing the spread of communicable diseases, across the schools.
Garo said the Kano government has placed top priority attention on the environment and climate change sector,
“It’s only when you have a good and habitable environment the health condition of the teeming populaces would be protected,” he said.
The Commissioner added that the exercise would be conducted every year in all boarding schools, Tsangaya, and Qur’anic schools to protect innocent children from mosquito bites, insects, and other reptiles.
He enjoined people in the state to continue to do the needful by way of complementing the government’s concerted effort to ensure a clean and healthy environment devoid of waste.
He said his ministry is always ready to accommodate any complaints or suggestions and collaborate with the general public for speedy development.
Earlier, the Executive Secretary of the Science and Technical School Board, represented by the Director of Physical Planning Alh. Garba Ahmed expressed satisfaction with the government intervention in this direction which he said would go a long way in mitigating the spread of insecticide, rodents, mosquitoes, and other reptiles within the school compound, and would certainly boost the academic performance of students by way of being healthier.
The Principal of the school Malam Mika’ilu Usaini described the fumigation and Vector Control as timely, especially now that we are at the period of the rainy season.
He said this would go a long way in reducing the number of sicknesses among the students and the environment would be conducive to teaching and learning he stressed.

The company reiterated its dedication to the steady supply of high-quality petroleum products to the Nigerian market, while aligning with national objectives of price stability and energy security.
It also urged the public to rely solely on official communications from the refinery for accurate and up-to-date information regarding its operations and pricing.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo on his emergence as the Deputy Governor of Kano State following his swearing-in on Tuesday.
KANO FOCUS reports that Garo was sworn in by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf after being nominated to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of former deputy governor, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described Garo’s appointment as a positive step toward strengthening unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State.
The President noted that the 48-year-old politician has held several public offices, including Chairman of Kabo Local Government Area and Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs during the administration of former governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. He also served as the APC governorship running mate in the 2023 general elections.
Tinubu commended Governor Yusuf for the appointment, urging political stakeholders in the state to rally behind the administration to ensure stability and progress.
He also called on the new deputy governor to work closely with the governor in delivering effective leadership and accelerating development in Kano State.
The President wished Garo success in his new role.

A dramatic political moment unfolded in Kano on Tuesday as former governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje publicly acknowledged Muhammad Sanusi II as the Emir of Kano and Chairman of the Kano State Council of Emirs.
