Dantiye Advocates for Synergy Between LG Information Officers and Health Personnel

In a significant step towards bolstering public health communication and response mechanisms, Commissioner of Information Baba Halilu Dantiye held a pivotal meeting today with a delegation from the Ministry of Health.

In a statement the Commissioner stated that the meeting centered on the imperative need for seamless collaboration between information officers across the 44 local government areas and health personnel from both the local government and the Ministry of Health.

Dantiye emphasized the need for a coordinated approach to swiftly confirm outbreaks, ensuring that only verified information is relayed to the public.

“Ensuring the public’s health and safety requires a unified effort from both the information sector and the health sector,” Dantiye remarked. “By working hand in hand, we can ensure that information regarding disease outbreaks is not only accurate but also serves to empower communities to take appropriate preventive measures,” he added.

Dantiye, who promised the support of the Ministry of Information to achieve desired objectives, explained that the meeting served as a platform to explore strategies for enhancing communication channels between information officers and health personnel at both the local and state levels.

In his remarks, the leader of the delegation from Kano State Ministry of Health, Dr. Ibrahim Adamu Gano, Deputy Director Manpower and Training, Team Leader Tuberculosis and Leprosy, expressed their commitment to fostering a culture of collaboration and synergy among stakeholders involved in public health and information dissemination.

Dr. Gano affirmed the Ministry of Health’s dedication to supporting initiatives that promote the seamless integration of information dissemination and public health efforts at the grassroots level.

In a similar development, the State Commissioner of Information also received a delegation from UNICEF led by Ogu S. Enemaku, Social and Behaviour Change Specialist, UNICEF Kano Field Office.

Enemaku said the visit was to renew the sense of purpose and determination to foster closer collaboration between the Ministry of Information and UNICEF, with a shared commitment to safeguarding public health and promoting accurate and reliable information dissemination.

The Director General of the Telecommunications Regulatory Board (ART) of the Republic of Cameroon, Philemon Zoo Zame, on Wednesday visited the headquarters of the [Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) in Abuja for a benchmarking exercise aimed at strengthening regulatory collaboration and knowledge sharing between both countries.

 

KANO FOCUS reports that during the visit, the Cameroonian telecom regulator met with the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NCC, Aminu Maida.

 

A statement issued by Ayiabari A. Kigbara, Manager, Media Relations, Public Affairs Department of the NCC, said the engagement focused on exchanging ideas and best practices in telecommunications regulation, with emphasis on enhancing efficiency and development within the sector.

Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited has announced that its ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) remains unchanged, reaffirming its commitment to stability in Nigeria’s domestic energy market.

Tinubu congratulates Garo on appointment as Kano deputy governor

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo on his emergence as the Deputy Governor of Kano State following his swearing-in on Tuesday.

 

KANO FOCUS reports that Garo was sworn in by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf after being nominated to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of former deputy governor, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam.

 

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described Garo’s appointment as a positive step toward strengthening unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State.

 

The President noted that the 48-year-old politician has held several public offices, including Chairman of Kabo Local Government Area and Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs during the administration of former governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. He also served as the APC governorship running mate in the 2023 general elections.

 

Tinubu commended Governor Yusuf for the appointment, urging political stakeholders in the state to rally behind the administration to ensure stability and progress.

 

He also called on the new deputy governor to work closely with the governor in delivering effective leadership and accelerating development in Kano State.

 

The President wished Garo success in his new role.
