NNPP suspends Kawu Sumaila, Madaki, Rurum, Rogo over anti-party activities
Nasiru Yusuf Ibrahim
The New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, Kano Chapter, has suspended four of its National Assembly members accused of anti-party activities.
KANO FOCUS reports that the state chairman of the party, Hashimu Dungurawa, announced the suspension while addressing journals on Monday in Kano.
The suspended lawmakers represent Kano South, Dala, Rano/Kibiya/Bunkure
and Rogo/Karaye Federal Constituencies of Kano State.
He named the suspended lawmakers Sulaiman Abdurrahman Kawu Sumaila, Aliyu Sani Madakin Gini, Kabiru Alhassan Rurum and Abdullahi Sani Rogo.
According to Dungurawa, the National Assembly members were elected under the NNPP platform but have recently engaged in activities contrary to the party’s wishes, beliefs, and moral principles.
He noted that they were given complementary tickets during the party elections, but instead of showing gratitude, they have been working against the party’s interests.
A recent incident that sparked the suspension was Senator Kawu Sumaila’s daughter’s wedding and the commissioning of projects at his university in Sumaila.
Dungurawa expressed surprise that the attendees were mostly individuals who had worked against Kawu in the past, while no party members were invited.
The party chairman has announced that a committee will be set up to investigate the issue and address it once and for all.
Despite the suspension, Dungurawa emphasized that there is still room for dialogue, and if the suspended members repent and seek forgiveness, the party may consider reinstating them.
