Tarauni LG warns staff against absenteeism, threatens disciplinary action
Nasiru Yusuf Ibrahim
The Director of Personnel Management of Tarauni Local Government, Alhaji Tijjani Madaki Gulya, has warned that the council will take strict disciplinary action against any staff member who fails to report to work without a valid reason, particularly on Fridays.
KANO FOCUS reports that Alhaji Gulya issued the warning on Friday during an official inspection tour of offices within the Tarauni Local Government Secretariat, conducted to assess staff attendance and work performance.
The director, who was accompanied by the Information Officer of the council, the Acting Head of Personnel, Tijjani M. Lawan, and the Acting Head of Departments, Nazifi Bello Yakasai, expressed concern over what he described as poor turnout of staff at their duty posts.
According to him, many offices were found locked during official working hours, with only a few staff members present, a situation he described as negligence and a clear violation of public service rules.
He stressed that such conduct is unacceptable and will not be tolerated by the local government council, adding that absenteeism and other forms of indiscipline undermine effective service delivery to the public.
Alhaji Gulya warned that any staff found absent from duty without proper justification would be sanctioned in line with civil service rules and regulations.
He also called on employees of the local government to be law-abiding, punctual and committed to their responsibilities, urging them to rededicate themselves to their duties in order to enhance service delivery. He reminded staff of their obligations not only to the council and the public, but also of their accountability in the hereafter.
The inspection tour, according to officials, forms part of ongoing efforts by the Tarauni Local Government to instil discipline and improve efficiency within the council.
