ACF Pledges N1m Equipment Support to Civillian JTF in Kano
Nasiru Yusuf Ibrahim
The Kano State chapter of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has pledged to donate equipment worth ₦1 million to the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), Kano State Command, to strengthen its security operations in the state.
KANO FOCUS reports that the pledge was made on Wednesday by the ACF Chairman in Kano State, Dr Goni Faruk Umar, while receiving members of the CJTF on a courtesy visit to the forum’s secretariat.

Dr Goni Faruk Umar,
Dr Umar said the donation was part of ACF’s commitment to supporting community-based security initiatives and assured the CJTF of a sustainable partnership. He also promised to mobilise additional support for the group from friends and well-wishers.
He charged the CJTF leadership to organise quarterly briefing sessions to keep ACF informed about its routine operations and developments, and directed that a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on security collaboration be developed between the two organisations.
Dr Umar cautioned members of the public against the indiscriminate sharing of unverified security information on social media, noting that such actions often create panic without offering solutions. He also advised small business owners to take advantage of the interest-free loan scheme being offered by ACF.
Speaking at the meeting, ACF’s Legal Adviser and Chairperson of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), Kano State chapter, Hajiya Salma Danbappa, encouraged interested members of CJTF to further their education in legal studies and nursing. She also offered, on behalf of FIDA, to collaborate with ACF in providing two training sessions for CJTF members on alternative dispute resolution and child protection.
Earlier, the Secretary of the CJTF, Kano State Command, Shamsuddeen Idris Mu’azu, said the visit was aimed at seeking partnership with ACF on security and peacebuilding efforts.
He explained that the CJTF was established in response to security challenges facing Northern Nigeria, initially focusing on intelligence gathering and support to conventional security agencies. In Kano State, he said, the group was formed as a proactive measure and had engaged with the Department of State Services (DSS), State Intelligence Bureau (SIB) and the Directorate of Special Services ahead of its formal take-off.

Shamsuddeen Idris Mu’azu
Mu’azu noted that the CJTF has operational structures across the three tiers of government and has been involved in sensitisation campaigns, vocational training, community engagement, intelligence gathering and collaboration with security agencies, including providing tips on security threats and illicit substance deals.
He, however, lamented the lack of operational vehicles for intelligence gathering in the state and appealed to the ACF Chairman to accept to serve as the patron of the CJTF in Kano.

Tinubu congratulates Garo on appointment as Kano deputy governor
Nasiru Yusuf Ibrahim
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo on his emergence as the Deputy Governor of Kano State following his swearing-in on Tuesday.
KANO FOCUS reports that Garo was sworn in by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf after being nominated to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of former deputy governor, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described Garo’s appointment as a positive step toward strengthening unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State.
The President noted that the 48-year-old politician has held several public offices, including Chairman of Kabo Local Government Area and Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs during the administration of former governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. Tinubu commended Governor Yusuf for the appointment, urging political stakeholders in the state to rally behind the administration to ensure stability and progress.

Ganduje acknowledges Sanusi II as Emir of Kano, 6 years after dethroning him
Ibrahim Khalil
A dramatic political moment unfolded in Kano on Tuesday as former governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje publicly acknowledged Muhammad Sanusi II as the Emir of Kano and Chairman of the Kano State Council of Emirs.
KANO FOCUS reports that the unexpected gesture occurred during the swearing-in ceremony of the newly appointed Deputy Governor, Murtala Sule Garo, at Government House, Kano—an event attended by top political leaders and traditional rulers.
While delivering his goodwill message, Ganduje addressed Sanusi by his full royal title, drawing immediate attention from dignitaries at the ceremony. The audience responded with loud applause when he greeted the Emir and recognised his position as head of the Kano Emirate Council.
The development is particularly significant given the long-standing rift between the two figures. Sanusi was removed from the throne during Ganduje’s administration, a decision that sparked widespread political and legal controversy at the time.
However, the political landscape shifted following the emergence of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, under whose administration Sanusi was reinstated as Emir of Kano.
Observers say Ganduje’s public acknowledgment signals a possible easing of tensions and may point to broader efforts at reconciliation within Kano’s political and traditional institutions.
The moment has since been described by analysts as a “twist of fate” in Kano politics, where former rivalries appear to be giving way to cautious gestures of respect among key actors.
