The Kano State Government has approved automatic employment for qualified indigene medical doctors currently working in neighbouring states, as part of efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery across the state’s secondary health facilities.

KANO FOCUS reports that the approval was granted by the Executive Governor of Kano State, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, who directed that eligible doctors willing to return and serve in the state be immediately absorbed into the system.

According to the announcement signed by the Executive Secretary of the Kano State Hospitals Management Board, Dr. Mansur Mudi Nagoda, the governor has fully implemented the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) in line with the Federal Government standard. The offer also guarantees continuity on the same grade level attained by the doctors with their previous employers.

Dr. Nagoda disclosed that additional incentives include access to the Medical Residency Training Fund (MRTF) as well as opportunities for in-house residency training in key specialties, including Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT), and Obstetrics and Gynaecology. He added that more incentives would be introduced in due course.

Eligible medical doctors of Kano State origin currently practicing outside the state are therefore advised to report with immediate effect to the headquarters of the Kano State Hospitals Management Board for documentation and formal absorption.

The initiative is aimed at addressing manpower gaps in public health facilities and improving the quality of healthcare services available to residents of Kano State.
