The Management of Bayero University, Kano (BUK), has paid a courtesy and appreciation visit to the Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority (HJRBDA) following the successful completion of 12 critical water projects across the University’s campuses.

KANO FOCUS reports that the visit, which took place on Monday, was aimed at acknowledging the Authority’s timely intervention in addressing the University’s long-standing water supply challenges.

Leading the BUK delegation, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Haruna Musa, expressed gratitude to HJRBDA for its support, noting that the projects have significantly alleviated perennial water scarcity within the University community. According to him, the interventions, executed between December 2025 and January 2026, have improved access to potable water for staff, students, and other users of the University’s facilities.

Professor Musa explained that the completed projects include the supply and installation of solar-powered water pumps, the rehabilitation of groundwater storage tanks, and the revitalisation of waterworks at student hostels and key facilities. He listed the benefiting locations as the New Campus, Old Campus, School of Continuing Education, University Hotels, and the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital Campus.

In his response, the Managing Director of HJRBDA, Engineer Rabi’u Sulaiman Bichi, expressed appreciation to the University Management for the visit and for recognising the Authority’s efforts. He explained that the statutory mandate of HJRBDA covers the development and management of water resources in Kano, Bauchi, and Jigawa States for domestic, industrial, and agricultural purposes.

Engineer Bichi stressed that Bayero University falls within the Authority’s operational area, adding that supporting the institution with potable water infrastructure was both necessary and strategic, given its role as a leading centre of learning and research in the region.

The BUK delegation was received by the Executive Director, Administration and Finance, Honourable Musa Ilyasu Kwankwaso, alongside other senior management staff of the Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority.

A former Governor of Kano State Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has commended the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, for ordering a fresh investigation into the disappearance of activist and lecturer Abubakar Idris Dadiyata.

KANO FOCUS reports that Kwankwaso made the remarks in a statement posted on his Facebook page on Saturday following recent testimony by a former aide to an ex-state governor, who allegedly claimed that police officers were responsible for Dadiyata’s disappearance in Kaduna.

Dadiyata, a lecturer and social media commentator, was abducted in 2019, and his whereabouts have remained unknown since then.

According to Kwankwaso, he and his associates have consistently advocated for a thorough investigation into the incident and for those responsible to be brought to justice.

He described the Inspector-General’s directive for a comprehensive investigation as a “decisive and long-overdue action,” expressing hope that the process would uncover the truth behind the disappearance.

The former governor also urged police authorities to place individuals named in the allegations under close surveillance to prevent interference with the investigation.

Kwankwaso further called on the government to ensure that Dadiyata, if found alive, and his family receive adequate compensation for the trauma and hardship they have endured over the years.

He commended members of the public for sustaining advocacy efforts on the case and also praised Abba Hikima Fagge for what he described as his important role in the latest developments surrounding the investigation.
