Police recover stolen vehicle, arrest three interstate suspects in Kano

The Kano State Police Command has recovered a stolen vehicle and arrested three suspected members of an interstate car theft syndicate in a coordinated operation spanning Kano and Jigawa states.
KANO FOCUS reports that the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, disclosed this in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, on Tuesday.
According to the statement, the incident was reported on April 17, 2026, when a resident of Danbare Quarters in Gwale Local Government Area of Kano informed the police that her unregistered blue Pontiac Vibe vehicle had been stolen from her residence in the early hours of the day.
Following the report, operatives of the Command’s Special Intervention Squad (SIS) launched an intelligence-led operation, leading to the recovery of the vehicle from an uncompleted building in Dutse Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
The operation also resulted in the arrest of three suspects identified as Shuaibu Abdullahi, 37, from Gombe State; Shuaibu Zakariya, 24, from Bauchi State; and Abdurahman Ibrahim, 35, from Deba Local Government Area of Gombe State.
Police said the suspects are currently in custody and have made useful statements, adding that they will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
Commending the operatives, Bakori praised the SIS team for their professionalism, swift response and intelligence-driven approach, which led to the recovery of the vehicle and arrest of the suspects outside Kano State.
He reiterated the Command’s commitment to tackling vehicle theft and other crimes, in line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu.
The commissioner assured residents of continued efforts to protect lives and property, urging the public to support the police with timely information and adopt preventive security measures such as using steering locks and parking in secure locations.
He also warned criminal elements to desist from illegal activities, stressing that the police would continue to deploy all lawful means to apprehend offenders.

Cameroon telecom regulator visits NCC for benchmarking exercise

The Director General of the Telecommunications Regulatory Board (ART) of the Republic of Cameroon, Philemon Zoo Zame, on Wednesday visited the headquarters of the [Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) in Abuja for a benchmarking exercise aimed at strengthening regulatory collaboration and knowledge sharing between both countries.
KANO FOCUS reports that during the visit, the Cameroonian telecom regulator met with the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NCC, Aminu Maida.
A statement issued by Ayiabari A. Kigbara, Manager, Media Relations, Public Affairs Department of the NCC, said the engagement focused on exchanging ideas and best practices in telecommunications regulation, with emphasis on enhancing efficiency and development within the sector.

Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited has announced that its ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) remains unchanged, reaffirming its commitment to stability in Nigeria’s domestic energy market.

Tinubu congratulates Garo on appointment as Kano deputy governor

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo on his emergence as the Deputy Governor of Kano State following his swearing-in on Tuesday.
KANO FOCUS reports that Garo was sworn in by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf after being nominated to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of former deputy governor, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described Garo’s appointment as a positive step toward strengthening unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State.
The President noted that the 48-year-old politician has held several public offices, including Chairman of Kabo Local Government Area and Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs during the administration of former governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. He also served as the APC governorship running mate in the 2023 general elections.
Tinubu commended Governor Yusuf for the appointment, urging political stakeholders in the state to rally behind the administration to ensure stability and progress.
He also called on the new deputy governor to work closely with the governor in delivering effective leadership and accelerating development in Kano State.
The President wished Garo success in his new role.
